Cool Guy and Successful Author Peter Lourie

In an interesting bit of serendipity, I just met the writer Peter Lourie, a non-fiction writer for children and adults. He was at my school for PARP (Parents as Reading Partners) Week as a visiting author. He was apparently the first person to paddle the entire length of the Hudson River and wrote a pretty neat children's book about it. He's also written adventure books about paddling the Amazon and Missouri, as well as traveling with scientists who study polar bears in Alaska. His website is peterlourie.com, and it's a fun place to explore.

Since I'm a struggling writer, it's always interesting to meet people who are succeeding as a writer. He was a combination an amiable, generous personality with notable achievements. I hope to have coffee with him soon.
