The funny thing is that it's me in the rear, paddling my butt off just to keep up. Normally I'd be with the fast people, but my monster plastic board is a little slow. On the other hand, I love paddling it.
I'm a big fan of plastic boards. The SUP community is a little obsessed with the fastest and lightest boards, but rides like that get torn apart on the Hudson. (See my Exocet problems as an example.) We need tough rides.
It's kind of like what you need to be to live in New York.
