Around the Point!

Sometimes I'm just looking for somewhere new to paddle. Today I set off at the Croton train station launch and worked my way around Croton Point. As usually, the current, waves, and wind were all doing their separate things, so I didn't get much speed.

Took a fair amount of pictures. I have an aversion to taking pictures a lot of the time. That means I have to stop, and that affects my MotionX results. On the other hand, it's nice to take pictures for the blog, so I did.

Here's the Croton launch. From here you can either go up the Croton River or into the Hudson.

This is the view north from the western part of Croton Point. While I'm not far from shore, this is the middle of the river.

After I rounded the northwest corner of Croton Point, I took a shot of the Croton Point beach.

A few notes: I saw a pair of ospreys flying about, looking for fish. Croton Point Park was pretty busy for a Sunday morning. There were lots of fishermen, which meant I couldn't get too close to the shore. Their lines were like little traps. I felt like I was playing a real-life version of Frogger. There was also a family at the point playing reggae music really loud, so loud that I heard it from the other side of the point. Not cool. Not that the music was bad, but let's not annoy everyone around you with it, please.

Last Comment: I need a bigger fin for my board. I'm waiting for Larry Allison to get me a Bat Wing fin to replace my tiny little flipper, but that hasn't arrived yet. I can tell because the board isn't tracking very well in cross-winds. The nose gets leeward a little too much, I think.
